Strong quake rocks New Zealand’s White Island

WELLINGTON - An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale Wednesday night jolted the White Island in northeast New Zealand, officials said.

The quake occurred at 10.32 p.m., the New Zealand Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences reported.

There was no immediate report of damage or causalities.
