St. Jude Medical opens heart learning center

ST. PAUL, Minn. — St. Jude Medical Inc. said Friday it opened a learning center in Belgium to teach doctors about treatments for heart disease.

The curriculum at the Brussels facility will include treatments for irregular or slow heart rhythms, valve replacement and repair, vein closure, and repair of the septum, or the wall that divides the right and left sides of the heart. St. Jude makes treatments for those ailments and is one of the largest sellers of implantable heart devices.

In morning trading, St. Jude shares slipped 31 cents to $38.56.
