Spanish police report explosion in Basque country

MADRID — A car bomb exploded Friday near the Basque city of Bilbao, possibly killing one person, police said.

The blast occurred in a parking lot in Arrigorriaga, an official with the Basque regional police said. One person was in the car at the time.

The blast left the car in flames and set other cars ablaze as well, she said.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity in line with department rules.
