Sixth straight victory from Raipur for BJP’s Bais

RAIPUR - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate and former central government minister Ramesh Bais recorded his sixth straight victory from the prestigious Raipur seat in Chhattisgarh Saturday.

Bais defeated Congress nominee Bhupesh Baghel by about 60,000 votes.

BJP’s Baliram Kashyap recorded his fourth consecutive victory from Maoist-affected Bastar (ST) seat while Sohan Potai of the BJP too pulled off a win from Kanker (ST) seat for the fourth term in a row.

Two women candidates have also been declared elected in the state that has 11 Lok Sabha seats. BJP’s Saroj Pandey and Kamla Patle won the Durg and Janjgir seats respectively.
