IMPHAL - Women staged protest in Manipur against a shootout with security forces in which five cadres of the rebel Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) were killed.

The encounter between the army and KLA cadres took place near Mokot Chepu village, located around 1 kilometre from Litan police station in Ukhrul district.

Protestors alleged that the troops violated ceasefire and called the killings as cold-blooded murders.

“There was an encounter between 12 Maratha Light Infantry (troops) and KLA cadres, in that five of them (rebels) died on the spot,” said Manikanta, inspector of Litan police station.

A large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of the shootout, Manikanta added. (ANI)
