Ill. cemetery says 2 bodies will be found in grave

ALSIP, Ill. — The attorney for the owner of a suburban Chicago cemetery has told authorities they will find two bodies in a grave being exhumed this weekend.

Cook County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Brittney Blair says that could make all 150 acres at Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip, Ill., a crime scene. She says the attorney spoke to Cook County authorities Saturday morning.

Portions of the historic black cemetery have already been declared a crime scene after four former workers were accused of removing bodies from graves or stacking them so they could resell the plots.

Blair says a man whose mother was buried in the grave has long had suspicions that there was another body underneath. A court ordered exhumation began Saturday morning.
