Sharp-edged weapons recovered as Haryana governor visits Panjab University

CHANDIGARH - The police Thursday recovered sharp iron rods, hockey sticks and knuckledusters from a car parked near the Panjab University (PU) campus here minutes before the Haryana Governor A.R. Kidwai was to visit the varsity.

Kidwai visited the PU to inaugurate the third edition of the Chandigarh Science Congress Thursday evening.

‘We found six boys who left their car and ran away scaling the boundary walls of the PU on seeing the police,’ Sukhbir Rana, investigating officer, told IANS.

‘We found sharp edged weapons, batons, rods and knuckledusters in the car,’ said Rana.
