NEW DELHI - Security personnel Saturday conducted a drill at the Parliament House here to test their preparedness in an emergency, two days before the house meets for the first time after general elections.

Using dog squads, the police and paramilitary personnel as well as parliament’s Watch and Ward Staff sought to check their efficiency levels if an emergency evacuation was called for.

Security in the British-built parliament complex in the heart of the capital has been strengthened drastically after terrorists attacked it in December 2001, almost sparking a war between India and Pakistan.
