GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. — At least one person has drowned in the Colorado River after a group of three Arizona hikers jumped in during a visit to the Grand Canyon.
Grand Canyon National Park spokeswoman Maureen Oltrogge says searchers found the body Friday about a mile down river from where the trio had jumped in.
She says searchers are using a helicopter, a dog and other equipment to find the other two. She also says the three were not wearing life vests.
The water temperature is about 50 degrees this time of year.
Tri-City Baptist Church spokesman Garrick Taylor says the three hikers, ages 15 to 22, were part of a 30-member trip organized by the church.
The identity of the drowned hiker has not been released.
