Schwarzenegger visits victims of Mexico fire
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has toured a Sacramento hospital that is treating children burned earlier this month in a blaze at a day care center in northern Mexico.
Schwarzenegger says Friday’s visit to Shriners Hospitals for Children Northern California was a sad one because of the pain the children are suffering.
The governor gave teddy bears to nine children being treated at the hospital who were burned in the blaze in Hermosillo, Mexico.
The June 5 fire killed 48 children, including a 3-year-old girl who died Friday at Cincinnati’s Shriners Hospital for Children.
Schwarzenegger spokesman Aaron McLear says the governor spent about 90 minutes visiting with a total of about 30 children.
