MIAMI — Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon already have their names engraved on the gigantic silver chalice given to the IRL season champion.

The three remaining contenders for the title were in South Florida on Tuesday, already starting to eye the Oct. 10 finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. They posed for photos next to the trophy only one of them will win.

The season’s next-to-last event is later this month in Japan. Then it’s a three-week wait before the title-deciding race on Homestead’s 1.5-mile oval.

Briscoe leads the race for the crown, ahead of Franchitti by 25 points and Dixon by 33.
