2 killed in plane crash over Britain

LONDON — A British air force plane and a glider collided over Britain on Sunday, killing two people.

Police said the pilot of the glider parachuted to safety, but the Ministry of Defense said both service members aboard the single-engine military training aircraft died.

The accident occurred over Oxfordshire, about 60 miles (about 97 kilometers) northwest of London.

Eyewitness James O’Neill told the BBC he heard a loud crash before seeing the wreckage of a light aircraft and glider in a field. He said he also saw the glider pilot parachute to the ground.
