Ron Silver dies aged 62

WASHINGTON - Veteran actor Ron Silver, best known for his role in the hit U.S. television drama ‘The West Wing’, has died of oesophageal cancer. He was 62.

The American actor, who was also a well known political activist, is survived by two children, Adam and Alexandra, his parents and his two brothers, reports Fox News.

Silver rose to fame with Valerie Harper and Julie Kavner in “Rhoda”, as their menschy neighbour, Gary.

He carved a niche for himself in the Hollywood with films like ‘Enemies: A Love Story’ and ‘Reversal of Fortune’.

He was nominated for Emmy awards twice.
