TIJUANA - Two men drove their vehicle at high speed into a bank in the Mexican border city of Tijuana, shattering the windows and stealing $40,000 that a customer was about to deposit, police said. Bank employees and customers initially thought there had been a car accident Monday, but the vehicle’s two armed occupants jumped out and threatened a customer who was carrying 400,000 pesos (about $30,000) and $10,000 in cash, police said.
The robbers abandoned the vehicle they used to smash through the bank windows and fled in another vehicle that was waiting outside.
Several people were treated for shock by Red Cross paramedics.
