Rick Pitino raped Karen Cunagin Syphera ?

Rick Pitino, Louisville basketball coach denies raping Karen Cunagin Syphera, but he admitted having consensual sex with her.

Coach Pinto told police about having sex with Karen Cunagin Syphera on Aug. 1, 2003, while he was drunk at a Louisville restaurant and later on he also paid $3,000 to Syphera as an abortion expense.

However, Sypher was indicted by a federal grand jury on conspiracy to extort money from Pitino and lying to the FBI.

Reportedly after required investigation and interviews with  Sypher police found problem about her credibility. According to police she failed to disclose about the other persons who was always present in the restaurant, secondly Pitino was in California when Sypher claimed he sexually assaulted her a second time.

As per USA Today,

U of L Athletic Director Tom Jurich said in a statement Tuesday that “Coach Pitino has been truthful with us about this matter all along and we stand by him and his family during this process.”

University President James Ramsey released a statement Tuesday night saying: “Several months ago Coach Pitino informed me about the alleged extortion attempt. I’ve now been informed that there may be other details which, if true, I find surprising. My thoughts are with Coach Pitino and his family.”
