Police seal off part of Capitol

WASHINGTON — Police sealed off some of the entrances to the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday after apparent gunfire erupted a few blocks away.

There were unconfirmed reports of one injury, but no immediate details from police.

Robert Drumm, a tourist from Oklahoma visiting the nation’s capital with his family, said in an interview, “There were so many gunshots being fired my family got down.”

Drumm said he saw one victim, not wearing a police uniform, taken away in an ambulance.

Numerous emergency vehicles converged quickly on a city street just off the fringe of Capitol Hill.
