Rain stops play in Wellington Test

WELLINGTON -Light showers stopped play as India pushed for victory in the third and final cricket Test against New Zealand at the Basin Reserve here Tuesday.

New Zealand were 281 for 8, chasing an improbable 617 runs to win in their second innings when play was stopped 30 minutes after lunch.

Ian O’Brien was batting on 19 and New Zealand Captain Daniel Vettori 15 after the home team lost Tim Southee for three soon after resumption, caught behind of Harbhajan Singh.
