Quippo to provide WiMax technology to Delhi airport (Business Capsule)

MUMBAI - Infrastructure equipment company Quippo Telecom Infrastructure has bagged a contract from Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) to provide WiMax connectivity at the airport’s Terminal 3.

The under-construction terminal of the Indira Gandhi International airport will have WiMax and Wi-Fi technologies with the help of Quippo and Ericsson, DIAL said in a regulatory statement.

WiMax and Wi-Fi are wireless technologies for Internet broadband connectivity.

HCL ties up with US firms

New Delhi: IT services provider HCL Technologies has signed IT infrastructure management agreements with two Texas-based power firms, the company said Thursday.

According to the agreement, the Indian IT major will manage the IT infrastructure of Energy Future Holdings Corp and Oncor for five years.

The financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Hyderabad to host exhibition on renewable energy

Hyderabad: Solarcon India-2009, a global exhibition-cum-conference on renewable energy, will be held in Hyderabad Nov 9-11.

Solarcon will bring together renewable energy industry leaders on a common platform. Nearly 75 exhibitors and 500 delegates are expected to participate in the event this year.

Mumbai: Smith and Jones International Foods has launched new masala noodles with Indian tadka flavour priced at Rs.10. The tadka is a medley of 52 Indian spices.

It has been introduced in single serve as well as family packs across 400 cities in India. The product has been launched in other markets like the US, Britain, Middle East, Singapore and Australia.

Delhi to host safety convention

New Delhi: The Institution of Engineers (India) will hold a three-day safety convention from Sep 22 in Delhi.

More than 300 leading safety engineers, disaster management experts, town planners, transport safety experts and manufacturers and suppliers of safety equipment will attend the event.

The major highlight of the convention will be transport safety in wake of recent spate of metro rail accidents as well as increasing number of fatal road accidents in the country.

Three banks get Tamil Nadu government award

Chennai: Three state-run lenders, Canara Bank, Indian Bank and Indian Overseas Bank, have been honoured by the Tamil Nadu government for lending to micro, small and medium sized units.

The three banks were awarded cash prize of Rs.25,000, Rs.15,000 and Rs.10,000 respectively by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
