Questioning Musharraf’s martial law puts Zardari’s oath under threat: Former Pak AG

LAHORE - The Supreme Court’s decision to question the legality of former President General Pervez Musharraf’s action of imposing an emergency in the country on November 3 2007, could also affect President Asif Ali Zardari’s oath, former Attorney General Malik Muhammad Qayyum has said.
Qayyum said that if all actions of the then Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar were against the constitution then Zardari’s oath of office is also not according to the law.
“The 14-member bench of the Supreme Court is treading a dangerous path,” The Daily Times quoted Qayyum, as saying.
Qayyum, who appeared before a court on behalf of Sindh High Court judge Justice Bin Yamin, said he neither intends to defend Musharraf, nor was on former military ruler’s defence team.
Musharraf has been summoned by the Supreme Court to explain the legality of imposing emergency in the country on November 3, 2007. (ANI)
