Professional training for those not studying after class 10/12

NEW DELHI - The Delhi government Thursday announced that it will provide professional training to students who don’t wish to pursue higher education after passing class 10th or 12th.

‘The Delhi government has decided to provide professional training under the Prime Minister’s Skill Development Mission Programme to around 30,000 of those students who appeared in their class-X and Class-XII and are not willing to pursue further education,’ Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely told reporters here.

‘The training will be provided in 13 different trades based on the requirement of such skilled manpower in the market,’ he added. These are automobile repair, beauty culture and hair dressing, electrical, electronics, fashion designing and garment making, Indian foods and snacks, hospitality, information and communication technology, refrigeration and air-conditioning, travel & tourism, retail sector, security and media.

The minister said all arrangements have been made for the training to around 30,000 students who would be able to find a respectable employment with more than satisfactory remuneration.

Starting from mid-July, the classes would be held in the afternoon at all single shift government schools in Delhi, according to an official statement. The education directorate has lined up competent trainers for this purpose, it added.

Lovely said the training courses are being offered after a successful trial under which around 4,000 students were imparted training.
