Hungary to accept 1 Guantanamo detainee
BUDAPEST, Hungary — Hungary’s prime minister says his country will accept one prisoner from the Guantanamo Bay U.S. military detention center that President Barack Obama has pledged to close.
Gordon Bajnai says Hungary will choose from a short list of Guantanamo prisoners in the coming days and the candidate will participate in an 18-month integration program.
Government spokesman Domokos Szollar says Hungary is likely to receive a Palestinian man.
