Authorities end search on Garrido property

ANTIOCH, Calif. — Authorities investigating two child abductions are ending a weeklong search on the property where a Northern California couple allegedly held a girl captive for 18 years.

Investigators say the search of Phillip and Nancy Garrido’s house and backyard did not reveal any connections to the 1988 abduction of Michaela Garecht in Hayward or the 1989 disappearance of Ilene Misheloff in Dublin.

Search crews were trying to determine if the couple charged with kidnapping Jaycee Dugard in 1991 were possibly linked to those abductions.

Hayward police Lt. Chris Orrey said Tuesday the Garridos have not been ruled out as possible suspects.

Orrey says investigators will still examine boxes of documents and other evidence collected from the property.
