PM wishes Basu speedy recovery

KOLKATA - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has sent a message to ailing Marxist veteran Jyoti Basu wishing him speedy recovery.

The prime minister sent the missive from Paris, where he is Tuesday on an official visit.

Former West Bengal chief minister Basu’s personal assistant Jaykrishna Ghosh said the message was faxed to Basu.

“The prime minister has wished Basu speedy recovery,” Ghosh added.

Basu, 96, is now under treatment at a private hospital here after he lost consciousness at his Salt Lake residence Sunday morning.
