PM condoles Ali Akbar Khan’s death

NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday condoled the death of legendry sarod maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, describing him as a colossus who strode the world of Hindustani classical music.

In his condolence message, the prime minister said Khan was one of the most accomplished Indian classical musicians of his generation.

A colossus who strode the world of Hindustani classical music for over five decades, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan worked towards making Indian music popular around the world, he added.
