PHILADELPHIA — Police say a shooting during a pickup basketball game at a Philadelphia recreation center has left a 23-year-old man dead and his 19-year-old brother wounded.
About 30 people were on and around the Shepard Recreation Center court Thursday afternoon when two men approached, fired three shots and fled.
Police say the older brother was playing when he was shot in the stomach. He was pronounced dead shortly after. His brother was watching the game. He was grazed on his forehead by a bullet and is hospitalized in stable condition.
Police don’t know the motive for the shooting.
Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey says the city-run center is not known for violence or any other serious problems.
