Petroleum Ministry assures all help to Unique Identification Authority

NEW DELHI - The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has assured to extend full cooperation to the newly formed National Authority for Unique Identity (NAUI) in the compilation and classification of nationwide data of citizens for the proposed exclusive identification cards.
This was disclosed by Petroleum Minister Murli Deora after Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of the NAUI called on him here on Tuesday.
Later addressing the media persons, Nilekani said that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas would be a vital medium in the compilation of the massive database since its network caters to the supply and distribution of petroleum products all over the country.
Nilekani, who is one of the co-founders of Infosys, also highlighted that the oil marketing companies which function under this ministry have direct as well as indirect link with almost all the citizens.
As such the ministry can ascertain the authenticity of the inputs and relevant feedback, he said.
“To make this Unique ID project work, we need complete partnership and cooperation among all the stake holders. I think the Petroleum Ministry is a very important stake holder because they are distributing petrol, diesel, LPG and kerosene to individuals. If there is a way, we can partner together to be able to have the unique IDs for the individuals that they service. That will be a huge boon for them, for U-IDs and for the country,” he added.
He also noted that the unique identification number to each individual citizen in the country would help the government’s endeavour to streamline and direct the subsidies as well as put a stop to possible malpractices.
It was also underlined that synchronisation of the data, standardisation of the biometric information and the technology will go a long way in serving the purpose of the authority and the oil sector.
The Government appointed Nilekani as the Chairman of the NAUI that will function under the Planning Commission.
In January, the Government had notified the creation of the NAUI. The ambitious plan of unique identification has been allocated rupees 100 crore in the interim budget of 2009-10. (ANI)

Respected Honourable Sir, I am one of the valuable custemer of Bharat Gas, agencied by M/s. Sharavan Gas Agency, RT Nagar, Bangalore, (No.080-23540042) where I had taken the domestic gas connection and I was not getting the gas in time and we had to depend on hotels for many days. And they suggested me to go for one more domestic Gas connection, I had paid Rs.2,000/- and took one more gas connection as per their request and they gave me one Iron Box along with the second gas connection, promising that if one gas gets over, I can call them and order for one more gas, so that I will be having one gas in hand before the other gets over. Ultimately, that was in vain and even after taking two domestic gas connections, I am unable to the gas in time. To be more specific, I am was in Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and after taking Special Voluntary Retirement in 2003, I joined as Placement Officer in Sri Revana Siddeshwara Institute of Technology, Chikkajala, Bangalore-562 157 for the last 4 years, which is owned by the Ex-Karnataka Minister Mr. K. Krishnappa and for him the right hand man is none other than Mr. Siddaramaiah, the present Opposition Leader of Congress. My consumer Number is 52005 in the name of the my wife Smt. Geetha. I rang up on 14th September 2009 after a lapse of 20 days and that registration has been purposely put on 18th September by the Officials of gas agencies. I went on Wednesday, the 23rd instant, where Ms. Violet of Bharat Agencies promised me that it will be sent on Friday, the 25th instant without fail. Also, I would like to point out painfully, that one Mr. Kumar, who is the supplier for Shampura Area never supplied us on the date specified by the Gas Agencies, either he will supply next day after obtaining the bill from the agency or else, he will supply during night times around 8.00 PM or 8-30 PM which is happening every time. Last time also, he took the bill and supplied the next day, where I had been to the gas agency to ascertain the genuinty of supply. He has been called on his cell by the gas agency and fired him left and right, saying that you should have supplied first the yesterday bills, and not to-days bills and he supplied by 12 ‘O’ clock on that day after getting the bang from the gas agency. To-day, leaving all my work (I didn’t go to the College), I took the auto from my residence to Sharavan Gas Agency, RT Nagar, Bangalore with the empty cilender, so that I could carry cilender in the morning itself, without depending on Mr. Kumar(9845925525). But, it was a rude shock, when Ms. Violet told me that it will be sent tomorrow, the 26th instant, even after promising that she will send it possitively on Friday, the 25th September 2009. And when I told her that according to her promise only, I was expecting the gas, she replied in a vague manner, Sir, you can go and report to any one and we are least bothered for anything and thus, this reply means the Bharat Gas has been sold to some Private Agency. I contacted the Manager Mr. Madhu, who behaved in the rational way, stating that your booking has been taken only from 18th instant and you will get your gas on 28th September, which has pained me too much and I am wondering, if this is the situation with a common man (middle class), and what about the people who are illitrate and unable to challenge these people. At the same time, in the Gas Agency itself, all sorts of obligations, irregularities were going on and watching all these, I got thunder shock. Hence, I request your kindself to look into matter sympathetically and instructions may kindly issued to the top Executives of Head Office, so that such incident never occures in future and the concerned officials may kindly be taken stern action, for which act of kindness, I will be ever grateful to you, Sir.
