Pentagon says Navy officer killed in Iraq shooting
WASHINGTON — The Pentagon says a 52-year-old Navy officer was among those killed when a U.S. soldier opened fire at a clinic in Baghdad.
Cmdr. Charles Springle of Wilmington, N.C., is the first of the five dead to be publicly identified.
The alleged shooter, a 44-year-old sergeant, is in custody. He allegedly burst into a stress clinic on Monday and began firing. All the dead were U.S. service members.
