LONDON - A new biography of late Hollywood legend Paul Newman claims that the Oscar winner was a womaniser and an alcoholic.

The Dailymail online reports, the new book ‘Paul Newman: A Life’, written by Shawn Levy, portrays the late actor as a functioning alcoholic and also reportedly describes how Newman, wearing a bottle opener on a chain around his neck, put away ‘beer after beer after beer, a case or more a day,’ followed by Scotch.

Levy’s book also claims that despite his reputation as Hollywood’s most faithful husband, Newman is said to have had an affair with a journalist who was writing a article on his movie ‘Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid’.

The biography is due to be published in May in the US.
