Palin heads to Fla. town that feted her in 2008

THE VILLAGES, Fla. — Sarah Palin’s “Going Rogue” book tour is heading to a Florida retirement community where she attracted a crowd of tens of thousands as the Republican vice presidential nominee.

Palin was treated as a star when she spoke here in Sept. 2008 — her first campaign appearance in Florida.

While she says the 2012 presidential election isn’t on her radar, The Villages is a heavily Republican community that is a must-stop for campaigning politicians in a key battleground state. The Villages is in central Florida about 60 miles northwest of Orlando.

Palin also planned stops in Jacksonville and Orlando on Tuesday.
