Pakistan Navy begins Seaspark exercise in Arabian Sea

ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Navy Monday started its six-week-long Seaspark 2009 maritime exercise in the North Arabian Sea, officials said.

Pakistan Marines, Special Services Group, ships, submarines and aircraft will participate in the exercise, the Inter Services Public Relations said in a statement.

The main objective of the exercise is to assess the operational readiness of Pakistan Navy.

The exercise is divided into four phases - preparatory, mobilisation, war and analysis.

Currently, it is in the mobilisation phase that includes activation of forward operating bases, dispersal sites and command and control centres, the statement said.
