Pakistan arrests suspect in Sri Lankan cricket team attack

ISLAMABAD - The Pakistani police have arrested a man suspected of involvement in the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in March this year, a media report said Wednesday.

The suspect, identified as Zubair, has been arrested. He is a resident of Dera Ghazi Khan area in the Punjab province, Geo TV said, citing police officer Pervez Rathore in Lahore.

The official said seven people were involved in the attack and all of them have been identified.

He said Aqeel and Umer (only the first names were given) mastermind the attack. Aqeel was reportedly also involved in an attack on former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf.

He added that efforts are on to capture the other suspects.

On March 3, gunmen attacked the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, leaving seven people, including, five policemen dead and six cricketers injured.
