Pa. college denies it violated gun backer’s rights

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh-area college says it barred a student from publicizing a pro-gun group because she didn’t follow the proper channels.

The Community College of Allegheny County said Monday that it did not violate Christine Brashier’s (BRAH’-sheer) constitutional rights.

Brashier says she was barred from handing out fliers for Students for Concealed Carry on Campus and told to destroy the pamphlets.

The college says Brashier cannot distribute pamphlets calling herself the “campus leader” of a group that has not been approved. To gain approval, a group must have at least 10 potential members and a faculty adviser, among other things.
