PANAJI - More than 100 foreign nationals who were illegally staying in Goa have been deported to their respective countries over the last three years, the legislative assembly was informed Tuesday.

Nationals of Britains and Russia top the number of foreigners deported. According to the data submitted by the home department to the assembly, 16 Russians and Britain nationals were deported.

Most of the foreigners deported were arrested by the coastal police stations which oversee popular beaches like Calangute, Anjuna, Morjim and Arambol. Other nationalities which feature in the home department’s deported list include foreigners from Ukraine, Nigeria, Switzerland, Holand, Italy, Yemen, Sudan and Oman.

However, Goa Police are not aware of the whereabouts of two citizens - Julius Musoke from Uganda and Ngoge Mulanda from Kenya - who have disappeared despite being convicted.
