Ohio mayor vows to close bar over shootout
TOLEDO, Ohio — An Ohio mayor is vowing to do everything in his power to shut down a bar where there was a wild gun battle last week.
Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner (FINK’-by-nur) says Thursday’s shootout at the Route 66 Kitchen won’t be tolerated. He says police have responded to the bar more than a dozen times in the last two years.
Police say shots were fired by at least five gunmen, sending patrons scattering. No injuries were reported.
No arrests have been announced, but police have said tips were bringing them closer to identifying suspects.
There was no answer at the bar early Wednesday. A message left by The Associated Press at a number for a man identified as the owner in government records wasn’t immediately returned.
