Obama: UN has often been forum for discord
UNITED NATIONS — President Barack Obama says the United Nations is at a pivotal point in its history.
Obama says the UN has done extraordinary good around the world, but has often been a forum for discord instead of forging common ground.
In his first speech before the U.N. General Assembly, Obama challenged world leaders Wednesday to stop focusing on what divides them and start focusing on what brings them together.
Obama says the U.S. is committed to “a new chapter of international cooperation.”
