Obama, Brown speak ahead of Normandy

DRESDEN, Germany — President Barack Obama has spoken with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown before the pair meets in France on Saturday.

Obama spoke with his counterpart Thursday night to discuss the U.S. president’s speech in Cairo to the Muslim world. The pair also spoke about changes to financial institutions and upcoming G-20 and G-8 summits.

The White House announced the call on Friday. The White House’s description did not indicate the pair discussed Brown’s trouble at home, where Brown shook up his Cabinet and fended off calls for his resignation.

Obama and Brown plan to see each other on Saturday in Normandy, France, for the 65th anniversary of the Allied invasion on D-Day.
