NY mom arrested after phony Craigslist post
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. — A dispute between two 9-year-old girls in New York has led to criminal charges against one of their mothers after police say she posted a Craiglist ad seeking sex and directed respondents to call the other mother.
Police say Margery Tannenbaum of Hauppauge (HAW’-pawg) on Long Island was cited for aggravated harassment after posting an online classified ad purporting to be from a woman seeking sex with men.
Tannenbaum allegedly gave out the phone number of the mother of her daughter’s rival to anyone who replied by e-mail.
Tannenbaum did not answer her door on Friday and her attorney did not respond to telephone calls seeking comment.
Last year a jury convicted a Missouri mother for her role in a MySpace hoax that led to a 13-year-old committing suicide. She is to be sentenced on May 18 and faces up to three years in prison.
