No respite from heat in Himachal

SHIMLA - The hills of Himachal Pradesh continued to sizzle with no respite from the heat wave, the meteorological office said here Thursday.

The state capital and popular tourist destination Shimla recorded a maximum of 29.2 degrees Celsius, a little over a degree from Wednesday.

“The maximum temperature of Shimla fell to 29.2 degree Celsius from Wednesday’s 30.3 degrees,” meteorological office director Manmohan Singh told IANS.

The hottest day of the season was recorded Tuesday with the mercury touching 30.6 degrees Celsius in Shimla.

Una town registered a maximum of 42.2 degrees Celsius and Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur district recorded 27.5 degrees Celsius.

Officials have forecast mainly dry weather across the state for the next few days.
