Murder sparks protests

KOLKATA - A businessman was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne men in West Bengal’s Howrah district Sunday, triggering protests on a busy road, police said.

The killing took place on the Howrah-Andul road when the assailants fired at the victim at his shop, West Bengal Inspector General (Law and Order) Surajit Kar Purakayastha said. Angry people then blocked the road.
