Mumbai police chief transferred

MUMBAI - Mumbai Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor has been transferred as Director General Maharashtra Police Housing Corporation Ltd, state Home Minister Jayant Patil announced in the Maharashtra Assembly Saturday.

Addressing the media after the announcement, Gafoor said he is “very happy” that he has been “promoted”. “My promotion was due,” he said.

The move assumes significance in view of the 26/11 probe aftermath. The Ram Pradhan Committee report on the probe and the Action Taken Report are due to be presented in the assembly soon.
