SHIMLA - The monsoon reached Himachal Pradesh Tuesday and the state experienced showers throughout the day, leading to a drop in temperature.

“The monsoon hit the hill state this (Tuesday) afternoon. The entire state saw good spell of rain throughout the day,” meteorological office director Manmohan Singh told IANS.

He said the mercury plummeted sharply following the rains.

While Shimla saw 6.2 mm of rain, Dharamsala recorded 23 mm, Una 22.4 mm and Kalpa in Kinnaur district 2 mm of rain Tuesday.

“The monsoon, though delayed by one week, would be strengthened in the next few days,” the meteorological officer added.
