Mexico drops kidnapping case against US dad, sons
TIJUANA, Mexico — Mexican authorities say they have dropped a kidnapping case against a U.S. man and his two sons.
The three men were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping for allegedly locking the father’s girlfriend in a room after a night of drinking in Ensenada, a town south of Tijuana.
Jose Manuel Yapiz is a spokesman for the state prosecutor’s office. He says the three men were released a few hours later when the woman decided not to pursue charges.
The men were arrested Tuesday morning after the woman — also a U.S. citizen — contacted police using a computer in the room. Yapiz confirmed their release Wednesday.
Authorities did not say if the men and the woman lived in Mexico or were visiting.
