MetroPCS, Limited Brands, Amex are big movers
NEW YORK — The following stocks were among those that moved substantially or traded heavily Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange:

MetroPCS Communications Inc., down $3.70 at $8.99
The low-cost wireless carrier had higher operating costs in the second quarter, and said its customer turnover rate increased.
Brinker International Inc., down $3.21 at $15.12
The restaurant company posted profit partly due to the sale of its Romano’s Macaroni Grill chain, but its outlook disappointed Wall Street.
MBIA Inc., up 66 cents at $6.19
The bond insurer posted a quarterly profit due to unrealized gains on derivatives and estimated recoveries from mortgage securitizations.
Limited Brands Inc., up $1.65 at $14.39
The owner of Victoria’s Secret and Bath and Body Works said same-store sales fell 7 percent last month, better than analysts had forecast.
Buckle Inc., down $4.69 at $26.26
The denim retailer, which has had better sales growth than many other clothing stores, disappointed with last month’s same-store sales.
Procter & Gamble Co., down $2.45 at $51.46
The consumer products company posted drops in revenue and profit, and said it will cut prices on some items to spur sales.
American Express Co., up 95 cents at $31.31
A Citi analyst upgraded the credit card lender, saying the rate of delinquencies on payments was improving, and write-offs are slowing.
Wendy’s/Arby’s Group, up 32 cents at $5.07
The fast-food chain said profit grew compared with how its two companies would have performed last year if they had already combined.
