Police: Confused men try to rob Md. funeral home
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Calvert County authorities are searching for two men who tried to rob a funeral home that they may have mistaken for a bank. Police said the men robbed Lee Funeral Home, next to a PNC Bank, in Owings on Monday. Lt. Steve Jones of the Calvert Investigative Team said an employee told the suspects they weren’t in a bank.
The men assaulted one funeral home worker, whose injuries were not life-threatening. It’s unclear if the robbers took anything.
Authorities believe the pair later robbed a SunTrust bank in Dunkirk, making away with cash and firing at a person outside who tried to get a look at them. No one was injured.
Four schools were partially locked down during the incidents.
