JOHANNESBURG - Kolkata Knight Riders captain Brendon McCullum has been reported for showing dissent against the umpire’s decision during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Deccan Chargers Saturday.

The incident occurred when umpire S.Ravi no-balled Knight Riders bowler Mashrafe Mortaza in the final over of the match as there were only three fielders in the 30-yard circle.

Chargers needed 21 runs in that over to win the match and Rohit Sharma hit the first ball for a four.

‘On-field dissent by a player is a Level 1 offence and is a direct breach of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players,’ an official statement said.

The two umpires - Ravi and Rudi Koertzen - will hold a hearing on the incident Sunday.

McCullum appologised for his behaviour at the post-match presentation ceremony.

‘I want to apologise for the reaction out there, it was purely out of emotion. It’s not easy being in a team that has lost of a lot of tight games,’ he said.
