TEHRAN - State-organised mass demonstrations started Tuesday throughout Iran, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the revolution that established the Islamic Republic in Iran.

According to state media, millions of people nationwide and hundreds of thousands in the capital Tehran will attend the rallies to show their solidarity with the Islamic administration.

The crowds in the capital will walk towards the Azadi, or Freedom, Square in western Tehran where President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is due to hold his annual speech.

The Iranian administration considers the anniversary rally as a sign of people’s resistance against the West, especially the US, and their willingness to continue their independent path.
