Markets close marginally higher

MUMBAI - Indian equities markets closed marginally higher Tuesday amid wild fluctuations, with a key index gaining 1.02 percent over its previous close.

The sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) ended at 9,159.26 points (provisional), up 1.02 percent or 92.56 points.

At the same time, the S&P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was at 2,785.8 points, 0.69 percent higher than its Monday close of 2,766.65 points.

However, the BSE midcap index was down 0.85 percent, while the BSE smallcap index lost 0.4 percent over its previous close.
