Markets close above day’s low

MUMBAI - A key index of the Indian equities markets managed to close off the day’s low Wednesday, but still ended in the red.

The 30-scrip Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index (Sensex), which opened at 10,968.6 points, fell 80.57 points or 0.74 percent from the previous close to end trade at 10,817.54 points.

Similarly, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) shed 0.9 percent to close at 3,334.95 points.

Broader market indices also lost, with the BSE midcap index shedding 1.15 percent, while the BSE smallcap index was down 1.62 percent.
