BHUBANESWAR - Maoist rebels set a mobile tower control room on fire and damaged a police post in Orissa’s Malkangiri district Wednesday, police said.

The guerrillas set on fire the control room of the mobile tower of state-run telecom giant Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) at Padia village in Malkangiri, 620 km from here.

‘The armed rebels set fire to the control room of the mobile tower and also damaged the police post building located nearby,’ district superintendent of police Satyabrata Bhoi told IANS.

Police have found posters and leaflets from the spot in which the rebels have asked people to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Maoists are active in more then half the state.
