BHUBANESWAR - Villagers in Orissa’s Jajpur district tied a man to a tree for two days to punish him for beating his wife.

Oriya language daily The Samaja reported Monday that Sagar Takiya, a resident of Phuljhar Jharana Sahi village, about 150 km from here, used to regularly beat his wife.

On Friday, he hit his wife again and also threatened to kill her. Angered by his behaviour, villagers beat him up and tied him to a tree in the middle of the hamlet.
